The first SCaRF Fellow Rowan Pritchard-Jones was made an Honorary Hunterian Professor by the Royal College of Surgeons and British Association of Plastic Surgeons as a result of his work looking at the effect of human growth factors on the spread and prevention of spread of malignant melanoma.

The second SCaRF Fellow Darryl Dunn also won national recognition for his work on malignant melanoma when he was awarded the first 2 year Michael Brough Clinical Research Fellowship by the Healing Foundation.

The ground breaking SCaRF funded research into malignant melanoma continues at the Microvascular Research Laboratories, University of Bristol, but is now funded on a project by project basis.
